Teacher sacked over pupil text messages claim
A TEACHER at Carmarthen's QE High School has been dismissed over allegations of sending inappropriate mobile phone text messages to a pupil.
Neil Hunt was employed at the school's Canolfan Elfed special education unit and has been investigated by the school and Carmarthenshire Council over the text messages.
QE High School said it took matters of misconduct very seriously and had taken a very firm stance after being made aware of the allegation
Peter Spencer, head teacher at the school in Llansteffan Road, Johnstown, said: "The school acted in accordance with the procedures and policies that are in place.
"We take this kind of misconduct very seriously indeed and the decision was taken to dismiss the teacher."
The county council confirmed a teacher had been dismissed due to sending inappropriate text messages to a pupil.
A Carmarthenshire Council spokeswoman said: "We can confirm a teacher from QE High School in Carmarthen was dismissed after sending inappropriate text messages to a pupil.
She added: "A full investigation was carried out after the matter was brought to the attention of the school."
