A TEACHER caught with porn and dogging sites on his school laptop computer has been suspended from teaching for one year.

Ian Reynolds, aged 38, downloaded the explicit adult websites while he was suspended from Maesmarchog Primary school in Neath for another matter.

But Reynolds was asked to return the school property laptop – and the X-rated images were found by other staff.

A disciplinary meeting of the General Teaching Council Conduct Committee yesterday heard children could have accessed the pages Reynolds had downloaded.

The committee found him guilty of three charges of unprofessional conduct.

He was ordered to go on a positive behaviour management and training course before returning to classes. Reynolds will also have to undergo a course on handling and restraint of pupils.

Former Maesmarchog headteacher Carol Bassett said: “A lot of the material on the laptop was quite personal to Mr Reynolds.

“There were a number of images of people engaged in sexual activity.

“There was a lot of material from dogging sites and swinging sites. It was very explicit.”

The hearing was told pictures of Reynolds were found uploaded on a contact page for swingers.

The laptop was linked up to a classroom whiteboard when it was returned by Mr Reynolds.

Mrs Bassett said: “It was freely used by children in the class at breaktime and freely available to anybody.

“Children are very savvy – it could have been accessed by them. Any child could have stumbled upon the images quite easily.”

Reynolds was suspended in 2003.

He was dismissed for gross misconduct in 2006 after an investigation by the local education authority in to the laptop incident.

He did not attend the hearing in Cardiff.
