TWELVE homegrown stunners have been hand-picked to star in Swansea Life magazine's 2010 calendar.

The Shoot Swansea competition saw 42 wannabe models, shortlisted from 160 applicants, compete for one of the coveted 12 spots in the calendar.

The glitzy event saw competitors scrutinised by a judging panel, which included former Miss UK Universe Lisa Lazarus, local hairdressers Lara Johnson and Andrew Price, and West End star Phillip Arran, better known to Swansea's gay community as drag queen CC Swan.

Flamboyant Blazers and Sunnyhaven Caravans owner Ed Whitney and his daughter Toria, a former professional dancer, completed the panel.

The theme of the night, black and white, created the classic 1940s/1950s feel producer and award-winning lighting director Paul Lee wanted to achieve.

The show was compered by award-winning stand-up comedian Phil Walker and featured entertainment from the Mark Jermin Stage School and X Factor boot camp finalist Karl Lewis.

Emily Tucker, one of Mark's star pupils and a regular in BBC Wales soap Pobol Y Cwm, opened the show with a performance of All That Jazz from the show Chicago. The calendar will be sold in Swansea retail outlets from mid-December.
