Swansea singer Rachel K Collier is on track for chart success
WE aren't known as the land of song for nothing.
And Wales — or Mumbles more to the point — could have our next superstar on its hands.
Rachel K Collier is hoping to take the charts by storm this week with her single Boom Boom (Heartbeat).
The song is just outside the top 10 on the iTunes chart and the 23-year-old is getting used to what has been a whirlwind couple of weeks.
She said: "I had no idea the song would be played so much.
"It has been crazy, Radio 1 A-listed it and it has been played all the time.
"I did the Radio 1 live lounge on Monday. As Trevor Nelson was counting down, I was just thinking, 'my dreams are coming true'.
"We did a cover of Sister Sledge's Thinking of You and Greg James then played it on his afternoon show.
"I have always been a singer songwriter and moved to London around three years ago now.
"It was really, really tough to begin with. I was running a band and you only had time to write one song a month.
"I wrote the song on the piano and it has been a real collaborative thing.
Rachel created the track with DJ and producer Ray Foxx.
And she is hoping that the single could well make the top 10 of the official charts on Sunday evening.
And despite her burgeoning music career, the former Bishop Gore pupil still has time for home.
"My family have been so supportive and I have the most amazing group of friends," she said.
"We are still all really close and I still love coming home, I try and get home once a month.
"I am actually coming back this weekend and might be back when the chart comes out. I would love to get into the Top 10 on Sunday, it would be like a dream."
The DJ added: "I'm extremely excited about my new single. I wanted the track to be cool, bouncy and uplifting, and with the awesome vocals of Rachel K Collier I feel we've achieved that.
