Swansea schoolboy is injured in bus collision in Penlan
A SCHOOLBOY was taken to hospital following a rush-bus crash in Swansea.
Youngsters were on their way home yesterday from the city’s Ysgol Bryntawe when two buses were involved in a collision on Heol Gwyrosydd, Penlan.
Police, firefighters and ambulance crews arrived at the scene just after at 4pm — with eye-witnesses describing pupils aboard the vehicles as being “shaken”.
Mid West and Wales Fire Service said its firefighters had helped to free a young boy from one of the buses involved.
A spokesman said: “We were called to a road traffic collision involving two buses on Heol Gwyrosydd, Penlan, at 4pm, yesterday.
“One male casualty was extricated from a vehicle by the fire service and he was later assisted by paramedics.”
The Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed they had taken one patient to Morriston Hospital.
It is believed the schoolboy was the only pupil hurt in the accident, and his injuries are not thought to be serious.
A police appeal for witnesses has now been launched.
Graham Daniels, head- teacher at Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bryn Tawe, said: “We’re relieved that nobody was seriously injured.
“We’ll continue to offer the pupils affected appropriate support for as long as it’s needed.”

“Once again, by luck, no serious injuries, but it could of been oh so serious..
We look forward to seeing what the result or cause of the crash was.
