Swansea rue rain as Cardiff clash is postponed
SWANSEA were left to rue the weather after tomorrow's home clash against Cardiff was postponed because of heavy rain over the last week.
Having come agonisingly close to a first Premiership win since September when they were beaten 28-24 by Llanelli last Saturday, the Whites were hopeful of clawing themselves off the bottom of the table this weekend.
But the St Helen's pitch, which is owned by Swansea Council, was deemed to be in danger of "long-term damage" and the game was postponed.
A Swansea club statement read: "Following discussions with council representatives with regards to the long-term damage that could be caused to the playing surface at St Helen's given the recent levels of rainfall, it has been decided that the home game against Cardiff RFC on Saturday, January 5 is to be postponed."

Swansea are bottom of the Premiership table having won only one of their 13 fixtures so far this season, and they were optimistic they might have been able to add to that tally against Cardiff, who have had an inconsistent campaign.
But the Whites' hopes were dashed by the decision to postpone the fixture, which was made late yesterday afternoon.
"From a rugby point of view, we're disappointed that we won't able to play tomorrow and build on our performance against Llanelli," said Swansea's team manager Ian Hopkins.
"We're not far from getting it right. Winning is a habit in all sports and, when we do get that win, it will be a massive boost for everyone at the club."
A date has yet to be set for a rearranged fixture against Cardiff.
