Two Swansea regeneration projects receive £500,000 funding
MORE than £500,000 has been awarded to two Swansea regeneration projects.
Swansea Council's Waterfront Connections project, which aims to improve the link between the city centre and the waterfront for pedestrians and cyclists, is to received £350,000 Welsh Government funding.

And the Hafod Copperworks project, a joint initiative between Swansea Council and Swansea University to preserve an integral part of the story of the Swansea copper industry, is to receive £158,000.
Housing, Regeneration and Heritage Minister Huw Lewis said: "These two very different projects brilliantly demonstrate the variety and quality of attractions that Swansea has to offer and how we are helping to make the most of the wonderful natural and historic resources in the city for both visitors and local residents."

"I am delighted that Welsh Government Regeneration Area funding is being put to such good use to benefit so many people and improve the city, which will in turn boost the local economy."
The funding for the Water- front Connections project will enable improvements such as landscaping, additional tree planting and an enhanced public art programme and signage works to complement the Boulevard scheme.
The Hafod Copperworks site dates back to 1810 and includes 14 buildings and structures of international historic significance. The latest funding will go towards stabilising the listed V&S engine shed on the site, and will also fund landscaping works on the site to create a suitable gateway for the project.
Nick Bradley, Swansea Council's cabinet member for regeneration, said: "The Waterfront Connections and Hafod Copperworks projects are terrific examples of how we can benefit both Swansea people and visitors to the city by working in close partnership with the Welsh Government and Swansea University.
"The ongoing Waterfront Connections scheme is giving pedestrians and cyclists better links than ever between the city centre and our stunning waterfront while the Hafod Copperworks scheme will breathe new life into a site that's of international historic significance.
"These schemes show we're determined to make Swansea a modern, vibrant city where we also do all we can to preserve and celebrate our heritage."
The Waterfront Connections scheme is part of the Swansea Waterfront City, a £32 million project funded by the European Regional Development Fund, the Regeneration Area programme and Swansea Council.
