A PROSTITUTE stashed heroin in a condom and hid it inside her before handing herself into police.

Drug addict Kerry Marie Baker, of Gomer Road, Townhill, had been wanted on a warrant by Wolverhampton Crown Court.

City magistrates heard she funded her Class A habit through her "giro and prostitution".

Prosecutor Julie Sullivan said at 7am on March 10, Baker surrendered at Swansea Central Police Station.

The court heard the 28-year-old was searched by officers and "a metal detector showed there was something in her trouser area".

Miss Sullivan said Baker confessed to having heroin concealed in a condom in her vagina.

"She was taken to hospital and the items removed were found to be one gram of heroin," she said.

"The reason why she concealed it was because she intended to use the drug when released from custody in Wolverhampton."

Magistrates heard that the offence she had been involved with in Wolverhampton was connected to prostitution.

Baker pleaded guilty to possession of diamorphine.

Stewart John, in mitigation, said Baker had a longstanding drug addiction and needed help.

"Hopefully she will get the help she needs," he added.

"She handed herself in."

Mr John urged magistrates to sentence Baker to a financial penalty.

"She will be taken to Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court immediately from here," he added.

Baker was fined £150 with a £15 victim surcharge, but she had served time in custody in lieu.
