A FASHION extravaganza highlighting everything the city has to offer is today being launched by the Evening Post.

The show — Fashion Addict — is set to be the biggest catwalk event South West Wales has seen.

It will take place in a massive marquee in the grounds of the National Waterfront Museum on March 14.

"We are really pleased to be launching this exciting new event for Swansea. It will give people a chance to see what is on offer on the local fashion scene while at one of the city's most interesting venues," said Cathy Duncan, Evening Post assistant editor.

Hair dresser and salon owner Brian Brown, who is producing the show, said he was thrilled to be working with the Evening Post to put on Fashion Addict.

He has promised it will be an extravaganza, which will include dancers from London's Boss Creative, and the winner of last year's Britain's Next Top Model competition, Mecia Simson will take to the runway, courtesy of the world-famous Models 1 agency.

He said: "It's so exciting to be a part of the Evening Post's Fashion Addict.

"We've already held auditions for models and we are now rehearsing the show and it's going to be huge.

"I am thrilled with the response we've had from local traders. We've also got great dancers who have appeared on shows like The X Factor and toured with Kylie Minogue, so it's not just about fashion, it's about entertainment."

Local traders, including Debenhams, Slaters, Posh Frocks, Molly's Fashion, The Prom Queen, Splash, Mumbles, Moss Bros and the Swans have already signed up to take part.

Lara Johnson and Andrew Price hair salon will also play a big part in the show, as will Helen Rhiannon, a celebrated designer from Dunvant.

Ms Rhiannon has been helping Mr Brown and choreographer Lee Maccalion, put the event together. She is providing outfits for the dance scenes and also had her own section.

As well as celebrating the current fashion Swansea has to offer, the producers are putting on a spectacular "fashion through the ages" show. Models will be wearing clothes from each decade of the past 100 years, starting in 1910.

Fashion Addict is sponsored by Sancta Maria Hospital and is being supported by Swansea Business Improvement District (Bid).

"Sancta Maria is extremely proud to be sponsor of the South Wales Evening Post Fashion Show 2010.

"The Sancta Maria slogan is look good feel good, which is exactly what the Evening Post Fashion show is about encouraging local people to do," Anne Palmer, director of Sancta Maria Hospital, said.
