Swansea West MP Geraint Davies suggests new Huhne punishment
SWANSEA West MP Geraint Davies has suggested an alternative punishment for former cabinet minister Chris Huhne and his ex-wife Vicky Pryce.
The pair have both been sent to prison for eight months for perverting the course of justice after it was discovered that Pryce took driving licence points for her then husband after he was caught speeding in 2003.
In handing out eight- month jail terms for both, Mr Justice Sweeney said point-swapping was "all too easy to do" but it amounted to the serious criminal offence of perverting the course of justice.
Following Monday's sentencing, Swansea West MP Geraint Davies came up with his own version of justice.

He said: "It will cost the taxpayer £50,000 to put Chris Huhne and Vicky Pryce in jail when they don't represent a threat to the public. Wouldn't it be better to charge them £50,000 each, as a fine, and that way the taxpayer would get £100,000 at a time of economic hardship?"

“He can afford a much higher fine than that, start at £1m! In addition community service in Orange Jumpsuits; apart from that I agree, being sent to prison is pointless as they are not a threat to anyone and they won't do it again.”
