A CLEANING company owned by the boss of Swansea's Penthouse restaurant has gone into administration.

London-based BMH Cleaning and Support Services, registered to Mumbles-born Peter Way, went into administration last week with the loss of an estimated 400 part-time and temporary jobs.

The company supplied specialist support and cleaning services to the hotel and catering industry.

Employees were sent a letter from the administrators, seen by the Post, confirming their redundancies with immediate effect.

Joint administrator Geoffrey Bouchier wrote: "Please accept this letter as notice of your dismissal, being redundancy for financial reasons, to take immediate effect from the date of my appointment."

Last month the Post reported that a bankruptcy petition had been issued against Mr Way, with creditors demanding £905,781.66.

It relates to a director's loan paid to Mr Way by Aquila Support Services, a company which supplied cleaning and support services before it went into liquidation in June 2009. Mr Way said last Thursday that he had met with Aquila's liquidators and that it had all "been sorted".

Former Penthouse staff have also contacted the Post over unpaid wages, while Mr Way said the problems were due to an internal fraud. The Post contacted Mr Way but he said: "I have no comment at this time."
