AN Olympic torch bearer and charity founder from Swansea has been appointed MBE.

Virginia Prifti, 54, of Llanmadoc, formed the charity Lawrence's Roundabout Well Appeal. She launched the charity after the death of her eight-year-old son Lawrence, who developed a rare degenerative cond- ition called Adrenoleuko- dystrophy (ALD).

Lawrence's Roundabout Well Appeal was set up in 2005 a month after Lawrence's death to raise money for the purchase of roundabout wells for water pumping in Africa.
