PRIMARY school teachers of the future at Swansea Metropolitan University have used the World Book Day celebrations to raise money towards a classroom and teaching materials in the developing world.

Following a day of fundraising activities, Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) Primary students and staff collected a total of £660.

The cash is enough for the Save the Children charity to provide a classroom and equipment for young people living in remote and often isolated areas of poorer countries.

In order to raise the money, students dressed as characters from various children's books and even filmed a Harlem Shake video.

"Our aim was to fund a library.

"But we were proud to have raised enough money to build a classroom in the developing world."
