Swansea City targeting six new signings, says Huw Jenkins
HUW Jenkins insists Swansea City are hoping to have around six fresh faces on board by the start of the season after announcing the biggest sponsorship deal in the club's history.
Swansea unveiled their new strip at the Liberty Stadium yesterday, with global financial services provider Goldenway revealed as their main backers.
Michael Laudrup's side will have GWFX, one of Goldenway's core brands, emblazoned across their chests in 2013-14 as part of a £2 million link-up with the Chinese company.
The agreement was publicised at a high-profile Liberty kit launch yesterday when Swansea displayed their latest home strip and new yellow and purple away colours.
Following that announcement, Jenkins also revealed Swansea were keen to tie up their remaining transfer business.
They are close to signing Vitesse Arnhem striker Wilfried Bony, while centre-back Jordi Amat arrived from Espanyol on Thursday.
He followed in the footsteps of Jose Canas, who completed a switch from Real Betis earlier this month.
But Swansea are still in the market for other new recruits and Jenkins reckons as many as three more could arrive before the campaign begins.
"Michael Laudrup has made his feelings known that he is looking to bring in five or six players," said the chairman.
"We've worked hard during the last month or two and put a lot of offers in for a lot of players.
"Hopefully we can bring one or two of our main targets in and I think their names have been publicised quite a lot.
"Two players are in — Canas and Amat — and I would expect to have more in by the start of the season. Those timescales haven't changed."
Swansea are currently thought to be tracking a host of players as they look to bolster their squad ahead of a third crack at the Premier League.
Adding to Michael Laudrup's attacking options remains a major priority, with Swansea possibly targeting two new strikers.
"We always think deals are close," added Jenkins.
"We've put offers in in good faith and we try and do the right deal that's good for us.
"In some cases we have to wait for a variety of reasons, but we've got a great squad of players, a settled environment and we are prepared to wait for the right player. We have until August to get the right players in."
