Swansea City striker Michu scores first goal for Spain... in training
IT may only be training, but Swansea City man Michu has already got it in the back of the net for Spain.
The striker got his shock call-up to the Spain squad on Sunday night.
And he’s already been showing of his striker’s instincts, putting it easily into the back of the net in this video.
Vicente del Bosque invited Michu into the squad after Atletico Madrid's David Villa pulled out through injury.
The former Rayo Vallecano man was preferred to Spurs frontman Roberto Soldado and Juventus's Fernando Llorente.
Earlier this week Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins hailed the recognition which comes after Michu rose from obscurity to shock the Premier League last season.
The 27-year-old scored 22-goals in that campaign, has already struck five times this term, and Jenkins reckons he can go on to hit even greater heights for both Swansea and Spain.
"As a club we are delighted he has got the call-up for Spain," said the Swansea chairman.
"It is fantastic that he has been included in the Spanish squad because of his performances with Swansea in the Premier League. It is a massive compliment and achievement for Michu and Swansea City that he has been called up by the current European and world champions.”
