Swansea City star Mark Gower leaves for Charlton Athletic
MARK Gower has left Swansea City to join Championship side Charlton Athletic on loan.
The 34-year-old midfielder was on the Swansea bench at West Brom last weekend, but has not featured in the Premier League since the opening day of the season.
And boss Michael Laudrup has now alowed him to leave with Leon Britton hopeful of returning from injury when Swansea face Arsenal this weekend.
Chartlon have been searching for some experience, and former Southend player Gower has returned to his native South East on loan until May 4.
"He's a midfielder I've had an eye on for a while," said Addicks boss Chris Powell.
"He's got a good pedigree. He's a talented player, a good used of the ball, and I think will just add quality to the squad. I'm looking at him just to help us over the line for the resot fo the season and then who knows.
"Maybe depending on how it foes, he may be someone I look at for the future."
Gower, who joined Swansea in 2008, sees his contract expire at the end of the season and Laudrup has hinted that he will not be offered a new deal.
