FORMER Swansea City star Jason Scotland is a free agent after leaving Ipswich Town.

Scotland, now 33, was Swansea's top scorer in two successive seasons before he quit to join Wigan in a £2 million deal back in 2009.

He joined Ipswich from Wigan in the summer of 2010, and has scored 21 goals for the Portman Road club.

But the striker is looking for new employers after agreeing a settlement on the last few months of his Town contract.

"He's been fabulous, Jason, he's such a lovely character and a nice man, he's been great around the place," Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy said in a recent interview.

"But we're going younger and hungrier, I guess, and unfortunately Jason's missing out. But he understands and he'd like to go and play football somewhere in the twilight of his career."

“mabl9 - I think you will find that Jordi Gomez is doing much better for himself than Monk or Tate. Leon stuck it out did he? I must have dreamt his 6 months away then.

As for Martinez and Scotland, they both wanted to try themselves at a higher level which is fair enough. Pratley and de Vries are the only two who left largely for the money (not that I blame them for that either necessarily).”

“Although a great asset when he was here, can't see JS even getting on our bench ATM; and while the talk is currently about forwards in the main, can I just give a heads-up and big respect to Luke Moore. His game-time has been far more limited than Danny Graham's; but when he has played he has often made a telling contribution. Anyone remember the winning goal against Man C last season? How about the lay-off for Michu's first goal at the Emirates earlier this season? Then there was the superb back-heel to play Sinclair in for the first goal against Leeds. The last one was, of course, in the Championship a couple of seasons ago - the same division where JS made his last contribution to the Swans!

There's also Rory Donnelly who has looked promising whenever I've seen the reserves. Just hope he's spending some time in the gym.

JS seems like a really nice bloke, and he was really effective playing as the "1" in a 4-5-1 formation; but can't see the point in signing him now given the other players we have.”

“He might be worth signing for a year or two as sub or something, he would probably take next to no money to keep here and might have some juice in the tank if given the chance at this level, as it would obviously be a big move for him.”

    “mabl9,

you forgot scott sinclair and pratley.

De Vries threw away a number 1 slot at swansea in the premier league to sit on the bench at wolves, who were then relegated. At least Pratley played at Bolton, but they too dropped down and will not be going anywhere.

I hardly ever see scott sinclair play, but I guess he is happy hiding behind the designer name.

Just look at how many players have excelled since being here after being unknowns before.

Be careful what you wish for guys, you might just get your wish.”

“Yes the grass always seemed to be greener on the other side, Roberto, Jason, Gomez, the goalie who joined the Wolves. Ah well that's life!! What price loaylty - Leon, Gary Monk, stuck it out and now getting the rewards! (ok Leon did leave for a short time but more than made up for it - deserved an England call up really - pity he was not Welsh, we could do with him!).”

“What a poor career he's had since thinking the grass was greener away from the Liberty”

“I hear Steve Draper manager of the Dockers is looking for a striker.”
