SWANSEA City returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Stoke at the Liberty Stadium.

After a drab first 45 minutes in which the Potters tried to contain their hosts, the game burst into life in the second half.

That period was just four minutes old when local boy Ben Davies wriggled free of Ryan Shawcross and Jonathan Walters and found the bottom corner to score his first Swansea goal.

Ten minutes later Michael Laudrup’s side doubled their lead courtesy of a superb Jonathan de Guzman free-kick.

He curled a stunning effort over the wall and past Asmir Begovic after Michu had been fouled by Charlie Adam.

Stoke then missed a glorious chance to get themselves back into the game as Cameron Jerome poked over from point-blank range following a Matthew Etherington cross which Garry Monk diverted into the substitute’s path.

Swansea made the game safe in the 80th minute when a flowing move involving Wayne Routledge and Danny Graham sent de Guzman racing in on goal.

The midfielder looked to have delayed and missed the opportunity, but kept his composure to find the bottom corner.

There was still time for Michael Owen to net his first Stoke goal at the death, glancing past Michel Vorm, though that was only ever going to be a consolation.

The first half was a forgettable affair in which Michu had the best of the few chances created.

He headed Angel Rangel’s centre wide after the full-back robbed Etherington.

“There were tears in my eyes when i saw our third goal. So simple yet so skilled. Goals like that are rarely seen of the trainig ground as players are frightened to try it. Laudup allows our boys to enjoy their football. We know o his skills and also his brother but his father Finn was also an incredible sportsman.
If one of the Big 4 teams would have scored that goal the media would have shown it everywhere.
Ashley Cole has just signed a 1 year deal @ 200K/week. How much does that make a prospect like young Ben worth.
    Make yourselves proud onWednesday boys.”

“It's probably insane to compare them since one is a defender and the other was a forward but seeing young Davies glancing silkily through Stoke's big boy defence like a ballet dancer gave this Dane strong and evocative memories of seeing young Michael Laudrup doing the exact same for the Danish national team in the early 80s and later in the 90s for Barcelona.”

“Ben Davies has got to a great runner-up to Michu as Michael laudrup's succesful innovations at Swansea. It is true that his hand was forced after Taylor's unfortunate injury, but rather than trying to plug the hole with a more experienced but less adequate solution, Laudrup threw Davies in at the deep end, has kept faith with the player, and has been richly rewarded at both ends. Even after Tendialli was signed, Davies still gets selected on a consistent basis, except for a couple of squad rotations.”
