Swansea City pair nominated for Asian football awards
NEIL Taylor is in the running to be named player of the year at the 2013 Asian Football Awards.
And teammate Ki Sung-Yueng, currently on loan at Sunderland, has been nominated for the South-East Asian player of the year gong.
Taylor visited Calcutta, birthplace of his mother, over the summer to coach youngsters and raise the profile of Indian football.
He is competing with Michael Chopra of Blackpool and Wolves defender Danny Batth for the event’s top prize.
Ki features on a shortlist that also includes Cardiff’s Kim Bo-Kyung and Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa.
The Asian Football Awards aim to raise the awareness of the positive impact made by Asians within the UK football industry.
They form part of the Football Association’s 150th anniversary celebrations, will take place at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday, October 8.
