Swansea City lose to Arsenal in Premier League
SWANSEA City staged a late rally at the Liberty Stadium, but ended up losing 2-1 to Arsenal.
After a goaless first period, Serge Gnabry put the visitors head just before the hour before the in-form Aaron Ramsey doubled that advantage just five minutes later.
Ben Davies pulled a goal back for Swansea with eight minutes remaining and Swansea went in search of the equaliser.
But Arsenal put men behind the ball in the closing stages and Michael Laudrup's men couldn't find a way through.
In a first half low on action, Jonjo Shelvey's long shot was as close as Swansea came to scoring while Ramsey pulled an effort wide.
The best chance of the period fell to Olivier Giroud in stoppage time when he too dragged a shot beyond Michel Vorm's post.
Arsenal took the lead on 57 minutes through Gnabry, who finished low after played in by Ramsey as Arsenal players queued on the edge of the box.
A minute later Swansea were in more trouble, Ramsey finished an Arsenal break, firing high into the top corner when he was fed by Giroud.
Swansea struggled for a response, but were handed a lifeline on 82 minutes.
The excellent Davies exchanged passes with substitute Wilfried Bony before providing an improvised kneed finish to net.
Though Laudrup's men tried for of a leveller, Arsenal were never really stretched and held out for a deserved victory.
