Swansea City linked with defenders despite Arsenal denial
SWANSEA City are being linked with a string of centre-backs despite their latest denial over Arsenal's interest in Ashley Williams and Michu.
Swansea have again insisted they have heard nothing from the Gunners despite suggestions that Arsene Wenger is lining up a £35 million joint bid for Williams and Michu.
"We've had no offers for any of our players," a Swansea spokesman told the Evening Post.
Michael Laudrup stated quite clearly last week that Swansea would not sell Michu at this late stage and claimed the forward would not be interested in leaving anyway.
He has been less bullish about Williams, however, saying he hopes the new Swansea captain will stay but admitting he cannot be certain.
And there are suggestions that Laudrup is already eyeing up potential replacements in case Williams departs.
Swansea have been linked with Blackburn's former Birmingham defender Scott Dann.
Another name being mentioned is that of Yohan Benalouane, a French-born centre-back who is currently on loan at Parma from Cesena and was recently touted as a possible target for Real Madrid.
Espanyol's Mexican international Hector Moreno is another who has been linked with Swansea in recent weeks.
