Swansea City frustrated by Ashley Williams to Arsenal rumours
HUW Jenkins has hinted at frustration over continual stories linking Ashley Williams with a move away from Swansea City and insisted: "We want him here for years to come."
Williams has been the subject of months of transfer speculation, with both Arsenal and Liverpool linked with the Swansea centre-back.
The Gunners have been touted most often as admirers, yet Williams and Swansea have insisted all along that they have heard nothing from the North London club.
And Jenkins admits he is puzzled by the Williams rumours - and is adamant Swansea do not want to lose one of their most consistent performers.
"We have had no phone calls about any of our players," said the Swansea chairman, "and we hope that continues.
"I don’t know where the stories come from - every year it’s the same.
"Somebody feeds information to somebody, maybe they are trying to create a story or create a move out of nothing, but I have had no calls.
"Ash has grown with us. His performances and personality have grown with the club and he is a vital part of our team.
"He is a big part of our defence and now he is captain as well. He is a good leader to have at the club.
"As always, we want to keep those players and we hope he is with us for many years to come."
Williams, who will lead Wales against Scotland tonight, is under contract at Swansea for another two seasons.
