A Swansea City fan has been charged with a racially aggravated pubic order offence.

Lee Ward was arrested in December after allegedly making racist gestures towards Norwich defender Sabastien Bassong at the Liberty Stadium.

The Crown Prosecution Service said on Friday evening that it had decided to charge the 23-years-old with using racially aggravated threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, and he will appear at Swansea Magistrates Court on March 20.

Catrin Attwell, senior Crown prosecutor Wales, said: "The Crown Prosecution Service has examined a file of evidence gathered by South Wales Police following a complaint made at the Swansea City v Norwich City match at the Liberty Stadium on December 8, 2012.
