Swansea City to face Liverpool in Capital One Cup fourth round
BRENDAN Rodgers is relishing the prospect of a Swansea City reunion after his former club were paired with Liverpool in the Capital One Cup fourth-round draw.
Swansea will go to Anfield in the week beginning October 29 to battle Rodgers’s Reds for a place in the last eight of the competition

Brendan Rodgers
“Swansea is a wonderful, brilliant club,” said Rodgers, who quit the Liberty in the summer to take the Liverpool job.
“I was in no rush to leave there and would only go from there to go to another special club. In this competition you prefer home games than to travel so to play Swansea at Anfield with two wonderful sets of supporters, I am sure it will be a really good night.”

“We will surely field a second choice team against Liverpool. I for one don't mind if we get beaten in the cup, staying up is all important. People will disagree because it's Rodgers but the league cup cannot come anywhere near the financial rewards that staying up will provide.
We'd get a minimum of 60 million next season so keeping our first choice players fresh for the Premier league games is far more important to me than earning the right to play another extra game.
However, it would be absolutely brilliant if our second string could get a win. And giving second choice players and youngsters competitive experience is never a bad thing.”

“Benny, this article says October 29 which is a monday.
The game against city is on the sat, liver is on the 28th.
Someone is wrong somewhere, but my two sources are this article and the bbc.”

“We will play Liverpool on Wed 31st Oct, so Man City away on Sat 27th Oct and then Chelsea at the Liberty on Sat 3rd Nov.
Busy week and an expensive time for the supporters.
It will probably have an effect on how many supporters we take to Man City and Liverpool.”

“slagheap
I base this on the fact that we both know that both teams will be playing for possession and passing, when we have come up against a team that also plays like that we have showed that we have the better game by far. I am in fact talking about Arsenal.
Where we struggle is when teams get physical and in our face, against teams that play technical football... and I am still amazed I can say this and by correct... when it comes to technical football, we are the superior team. I expect Liverpool to improve by the end of October but I don't expect them to be playing tiki-taka at Swansea's level.
Surely you can grant me that after seeing what happened against Arsenal with tactics and style of play in mind.”

“Hadoken4543. you say liverpool play everton on the 28th if that is the case then we wont be playing them on the 29th,no team has ever played 2 games in 2 days. i would suggest the date of the cup tie will be put back as they wont alter a league game date”

“What would we have given for three fixtures like these only a few seasons ago? Tough, yes, but we are with the big boys now. Onwards and upwards. Stoke on Saturday probably more important.”

“So we have manchester city on the 27then liverpool on the 29th.
Sorry but the schedule is a joke if this is correct, less than two days to recover from playing the league champions.
The only good news is, liverpool have everton on the 28th so they are likely to be pushed as hard if not harder than us as its a local derby.”

“This will be a tough one coming off the back off the away fixture at Man City and before the home fixture against Chelsea. I would love to think that we will beat them in their back yard and then beat them in the league fixture down here but it will be tough. I do think that we can take them as they won't risk too many of their big guns being that they are so thin on the ground which may give us a chance.”
