Swansea City beaten 1-0 by Tottenham
SWANSEA City crashed to their second successive Premier League defeat as they were beaten 1-0 by Spurs at White Hart Lane.
After a bright opening from Michael Laudrup's side, the hosts were soon in command and it took some desperate defending to keep the game goalless at half-time.
Jermain Defoe and Clint Dempsey both went close for Tottenham, while Kyle Walker's long range thunderbolt cannoned off Gerhard Tremmel's shoulder before being cleared to safety.
Swansea also had the odd opportunity.
Jonathan de Guzman fired just over the angle when found by Wayne Routledge and Michu nearly chipped Hugo Lloris from 35 yards.
Two minutes after the restart, Nathan Dyer just failed to get enough purchase on Routledge's cross, but Spurs still looked dangerous.
A counter-attack ended with Walking blazing over before the breakthrough came.
Ben Davies cleared Walker's free-kick into the path of Jan Vertonghen who fired into the bottom corner.
Spurs grew nervous as Swansea pushed for a leveller late on and there were chaotic scenes in injury-time.
Michu was laid out on the turf after chasing a long ball forwards, but play was allowed to continue much to Swansea's displeasure.
