Rangel doubled that advantage six minutes later, finishing at the second attempt after being expertly found by Wayne Routledge.
QPR pulled a goal back early in the second period as substitute Bobby Zamora netted when Michel Vorm failed to hold Adel Taarabt's shot.
But any thoughts of a fightback were quickly killed.
Just three minutes later Pablo Hernandez showed excellent footwork before squeezing the ball in at the far post.
Michu rounded off the victory in the 67th minute, latching onto Hernandez's inch-perfect through ball before poking past Cesar.
