SWANSEA City maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-2 draw against Sunderland.

Michael Laudrup's side twice came from behind before having Chico Flores sent off late on.

And their defensive problems are mounting ahead of the trip to Aston Villa in two weeks' time as Neil Taylor was stretchered off with a serious ankle injury after just 15 minutes.

Having made the better start, Swansea went a goal down five minutes before half-time when a mistake from Ashley Williams put Steven Fletcher in on goal and he finished past Vorm.

Wayne Routledge levelled in first half stoppage time, thumping in a volley after being put through by Dyer.

But there was still time for Sunderland to level before the interval.

Fletcher grabbed his second when he stole in at the far post to turn home a free-kick.

Swansea immediately put pressure on the Black Cats' goal at the start of the second period.

Leon Britton, Angel Rangel and Jonathan de Guzman all missed chances before Michu made the breakthrough.

He headed home a pinpoint de Guzman cross on 67 minutes and Swansea went in search of a winner.

But hopes of victory faded four minutes later when Flores was dismissed for a high tackle on Craig Gardner.

“DanEGraig, it would have mattered if he was offside, Chico's deflection doesn't matter. If a player shoots from an offside position and the flag goes up it's no goal regardless, learn the rules.
If a player is in an offside position but an opponent tries to play the ball and plays it on to the offside player he becomes onside. If a player in an offside position reeieves the ball cleanly then he is offside and what happens after is irrelevant. Unless of course the linesman doesn't flag!!
Last week people were saying we could do the top six, lose one player and all of a sudden it's a calamity despite the fact Ben Davies stepped up and looks a very good player. People need to calm down. We have Davies and in an emergency Tate can cover and we have Bartley to cover CB, where, in an absolute crisis Agustien can cover. Also, come January we still have funds available to strengthen should we need to. No need to panic. Players want to come here now, if only for Laudrup.
    To summarise, BLOOMING CALM DOWN!!”

“Sorry DJofTNE , but everyone is entitled to opinions and I think your gaffer remark is a bit of a cheap shot. The point I am making is that it does not matter if Laudrup, me or the Man in the Moon is the manager, it will cost us points and therefore big money if a player keeps clattering in to the opposition and gets carded or sent off.”

“I'm a Sunderland fan, and I think you lot will do very well this season, I like to watch how you play and on Saturday you showed you could mix it up being more physical. For me Chico looks like a huge liability for you, could have easily been booked for tackle on McClean as his feet came of the floor. And despite many stating he didn't catch Saha, he caught him enough to make his ear bleed, one high stud is all it needs! Real shame about Taylor, he has got a bright future ahead of him and that is a terrible injury. However we were obvioulsy disapointed that Swansea fans booed Gardner and have abused him on twitter, the lad didn't do anything but get fouled. It wasn't his fault Taylor broke his ankle, nor was it Taylor's. Easily expect top ten for the Swans this year, I hope you finish above Liverpool! PS. username is a reference to Stoke City's style of play, not Swansea City!”

“Milasol, ashley young does it week in week out, constantly play acting, if SAF does nothing about it and the refs have done nothing about it, nothing will ever be done about it. Lack of consistency amongst the refs also prevents us for stamping this out. Lets be fair though we have also had players who like to roll around abit too.”

“danegraig- Next time you pass judgement, lets use facts ay? Your comments are littered with guess's and asumptions, all wrong as well. Luckily we have Michael Laudrup as gaffer and not you.”

“Regarding the defensive errors... If staying in the premier league is worth forty million and the target to be safe is forty points then even my maths can work out that every point we get is worth a million pounds. Defensive errors cost us a million pounds yesterday and the sending off prevented us storming forward to win the match. Chico is not the answer in the back four I am afraid, he is reckless and prone to errors. Pass completion is about 80% I would guess. I think Williams is aware that he is not the real deal and it is affecting his game. From where I was sitting their second one was an own goal, steered in by Chico. He should have dealt with it, but immediately tried to cover himsef by sayng it was offside. Doesn't matter if Fletcher was off side because Chico hit it in. I am afraid we have a problem here. I understand his record is not too good with a load of yellow cards. We can't afford players like this.”

“Two lapses in a normal steady defence cost us dearly. Sunderland were defending with so many of their players behind the ball, Dyer's lovely chip gave Routledge a good goal, with Mincu again scoring a brilliant goal-- Yes Sunderland are a dangerous side though they certainly didn't have the flare of our Swans.”

“Haddoken6773, totally agree, What worries me was ML choosing to keep a small squad of "Regular" Players, with no back up. especially in Defence. This has come home to roost Now that Neil Taylor is injured and probably out for the season, Thank god we still have Alan Tate and Garry Monk. These are two seasoned jack pro's who have played with Ashley Williams again and again. Tate can play on either side of the Swansea Defence, and also in Goal if need be. Although he's not the quickest, He has both a terrific left and right boot , and an asset for ML to turn to. Garry Monk is in the twilight of his career along with Alan Tate, but is again a stalwart in the back three, and a colossus. Ben Davies could learn a thing or two from these two professionals, as they have seen it all and done it all, and it would stand him in good stead. ML will soon be glad he still has these players at hand when Chico Flores throws a wobbly and is given his marching orders again. He is a great player, but a loose canon reminiscent of Joey Barton. Lets hope he cools it..”
