SWANSEA City could add to their Dutch contingent after offering a trial to John Verhoek.

The free agent striker is due at the Liberty Stadium next Wednesday and is expected to spend a week training with Roberto Martinez's squad.

Verhoek, said to be a target for Rotherham, was linked with Birmingham last season and has previously played for ADO Den Haag — the former club of Dorus de Vries and Ferrie Bodde.

"I think British football is for me," Verhoek said.

“If he can offer us a bit of muscle in and around the box and be direct in his approach he may add something for us . . Roberto is shrewd enough to hopefully find us another bargain but whether this is the one remains to be seen.”
