Swans mascot joins fight against violence towards women
HE usually fights the cause of the Jack Army, but Cyril the Swan was on a very different crusade in Swansea city centre this week.
The Swansea City FC mascot took part in a flashmob to support a global movement to end violence against women and girls.

Cyril was part of a crowd which gathered in Oxford Street as part of the One Billion Rising event.
A series of 10-minute long flashmobs were held in which large groups of people gathered together to dance and hand out leaflets.

Paula Hardy, chief executive of Welsh Women's Aid, which supported the event, said: "As the key national charity working to end all forms of violence against women in Wales, Welsh Women's Aid is proud to be supporting grassroots activists this Valentine's Day in raising awareness of the prevalence of violence against women and girls.
"This is not just a problem that happens somewhere else, every year in Wales seven women die at the hands of their male partners or ex-partners and more than 50,000 women experience domestic abuse.
"We are proud to support the One Billion Rising campaign and to rise with activists across Wales and the world to call for an end to violence against women and girls."

“Thanks for publicising this, Evening Post. We raised nearly £100 for Women's Aid, and it was great to have the support of Cyril, Cybil, the Wave, and everyone else :)”
