Swans hammer United - in the spending league that is
SWANSEA City have entered the big league when it comes to summer spending.
Swansea are currently the seventh biggest Premier League spenders this summer.
Having splashed out a whopping £20 million so far, Michael Laudrup's side sit ahead of a number of top-flight heavyweights, including reigning champions Manchester United.
The £12 million paid for Wilfried Bony represents their biggest outlay, a sum which smashed the club's transfer record. That figure could rise to £13.75 million, while Swansea also paid £5 million for Jonjo Shelvey.
"We spent a lot of money on one player in Bony, but the thing is with forwards, players who score goals, everybody wants them," said Michael Laudrup. "They are difficult to find and very expensive."
