PUPILS at Dyffryn Taf School in Whitland have been getting to grips with electric vehicles.

Staff from Cross Hands firm J J Motors loaned design and technology pupils a Nissan Leaf.

The pupils were treated to a test drive and shown how to charge the lithium-ion battery, together with how to use its computer to plot their journey and locate charging stations en-route.

Team Dragon, the school's young engineers' club, is competing in the Toyota Technology Challenge, a national competition, in which schools race solar-powered electric cars.
