TALENTED young singers are set to fill Theatr Elli with the sounds of Christmas this evening.

Members of the Coedcae school choir will present The Coedcae Christmas Spectacular — an evening of singing, dancing and music starring students from across all year groups.

More than 90 youngsters, aged between 11 and 16, have been perfecting their pieces over the past few weeks and all are looking forward to taking to the stage tonight.

The students are used to showcasing their well- rehearsed harmonies to large audiences, having recently performed in front of crowds at Parc y Scarlets, the Llanelli Christmas lights switch-on, International Women's Day events and in department stores.

The choir also enjoyed taking part in a successful musical extravaganza earlier this year, where they performed to a packed theatre.

To reward the youngsters' hard work, staff at the school decided to show off their talent once more to the community, with a full concert featuring not just the choir but a dance group and band members.

This evening's show will see soloists and the full choir perform pieces ranging from contemporary hits to traditional songs — all with a Christmas flavour to get Llanelli into the festive spirit.

A school spokeswoman said the event is one everyone has been looking forward to.

"The school orchestral musicians and band will perform some great music to get your feet tapping, our lively school dance group will also take to the stage, and we guarantee a night to remember," she said.

"The Coedcae Christmas Spectacular is definitely a show not to be missed.

"We would love you to come and share the evening with us and witness the considerable talent on display from the pupils in Coedcae school.

"We look forward to seeing you there."

The Coedcae Christmas Spectacular will take place at Theatr Elli at 7pm tonight.
