Streets across Wales are far cleaner now than before
PEOPLE in Wales are cleaning up their act as streets across the nation are far cleaner than before.
New figures released today by the All Wales Local Environmental Audit and Management System Report (How Clean are our Streets?) show 16 out of 22 local authorities receiving a higher Cleanliness Index (CI) than in previous years.
This year's average is 68.6, compared with 67.9 in 2010–11.
Schemes being carried out by Keep Wales Tidy and local councils are believed to be paying dividends shown through the results of the survey.

“Agree with Richie and jules - Swansea is filthy and far too many anti social citizens still dropping litter indiscriminately and with impunity. Walked in Marina at weekend near barrage and it was like crossing a minefield of dog excrement. Smoking related debris and chewing gum encrusted pavements everywhere. Steps right at entrance to Civic centre littered with cigarette ends. Problem is that we're just not tough enough on the offenders. City of culture???? I don't think so.”

“Cleaner than before?
Before when?
What did it look like BEFORE?????
I have never seen so much rubbish strewn all over the place as here in Wales.
Disgusting and disgraceful!”
