A CHEQUE for £5,000 has been handed over to the Fire Fighters Charity by a Gwendraeth Valley fire station.

Presented on Tuesday, the money was raised at the Tumble Station's open day in the summer.

More than 500 people attended the open day, which provided the people of Tumble with key safety messages and an insight into the world of firefighters.

Head of Carmarthenshire County Command Rob Quin, who accepted the cheque on behalf of the charity, said: "The firefighters from Tumble have a grand tradition of charity fundraising.
