Springing into action
THE birds are singing and some flowers think it's spring.
This flowering hypericum appears to have brushed off winter and is growing full steam ahead at Singleton Botanic Gardens, Swansea.
The walled gardens help keep the wind at bay, and Jack Frost hasn't been nipping at anyone's toes of late.
In fact temperatures have been unseasonably warm, especially at night.

The wet weather of last year has helped species such as slugs and orchids, but proved miserable for others such as pollinating insects.
As reported on page 22 of today's Post, 2012 was the third wettest in Wales since 1910, and the wettest ever in England.
