The warning has been issued alongside a yellow warning of rain already in place. The rain warning comes into effect between 3pm and midnight tomorrow.

The snow warning urges the public to be braced for localised travel disruption, with some journeys taking longer than usual. Take extra care when walking, cycling or driving in affected areas, the Met Office says.

Heavy rain is forecast in South Wales tomorrow evening, and showers are expected until the early hours of Saturday.

There is an 80 per cent chance of precipitation - that is, rain, sleet or snow - tomorrow evening.

Temperatures are set to climb in South Wales tomorrow, reaching highs of 6-9C. But the Met Office warns it could feel much colder - as low as -2C at times.

“I came home from Northern Norway yesterday, high above the Artic Circle. Snow and the cold ( minus 15 C ) doesn't seem to worry them at all. Most of their Council vehicles have snow clearing attatchments which can be removed when not in use, thus avoiding the disruption that regularily occurs when we sometimes have an inch or two of snow.
I whizzed down the M4 from Heathrow at 11.30 pm last night, road clear until I crossed the Severn Bridge and entered Wales. Guess what, no gritters had been out until I approached Cardiff. Is there a message there ?”
