South Wales Scorpions coach embarrassed after first game of season
SOUTH Wales Scorpions coach Dave Clark admits he was embarrassed by his side's poor start to the season on Sunday.
The Scorpions crashed to a 54-12 defeat at home to London Skolars in their first Northern Rail Cup game, which gives them an uphill task to reach the knockout stages and the Bowl Final.
"I am totally embarrassed," he said.
"I take full responsibility for how the boys play. I create the atmosphere they play and train in and it wasn't good enough.

"The players know what to do when they go on the field and this game was a big learning experience. We've been saying for a few weeks that intensity wasn't as good as we wanted in training and that was a wake-up call.
"I can tell you this — we won't see another scoreline like that this season. The boys will learn from it and improve."
The Scorpions' next game is at Gloucestershire All Golds, who also suffered home defeat in their first game of the season, losing 18-36 to Hemel Stags.
Clark added: "Gloucestershire are a new club but they'll want to get their first win."
