South Wales Police officer nominated for bravery award
A South Wales Police officer will be honoured at a ceremony in London today after he was nominated for a national bravery award.
A total of 53 nominated officers from forces around the country were invited to a lunch time reception at Downing Street before the Police Bravery Awards takes place in London this evening.

DC Andrew O’Flanagan chased two men after he saw them threaten a shop assistant in Swansea with knives and demand cash.
The off-duty officer struggled with one of the men after he tripped and fell, dislocating his own finger in the process, and kept the man under control until police officers arrived at the scene.

Other nominees include West Mercia Police officers who battled to rescue two people trapped in a burning car after an horrific crash, in which two other people were killed.
There will be eight regional awards handed out at the ceremony tonight, one for victim support and one overall winner.
