Sousa is linked with NY Red Bulls
FORMER Swansea City manager Paulo Sousa is reportedly set to take charge of New York Red Bulls after leaving Hungarian club Videoton.
Sousa, who has also managed the likes of QPR and Leicester City, terminated his contract at Videoton by mutual consent, leaving them fourth in their domestic league.
The Red Bulls, Thierry Henry's current side, are still without a coach after Hans Backe's contract was not renewed at the end of the 2012 season.
Sousa, 42, spent the 2009-10 campaign in charge of the Swans and guided them to seventh place in the Championship.

Meanwhile, ex-Swansea striker Dean Saunders has been confirmed as the new manager of Wolves.
Saunders left his job at Doncaster to take over at Molineux, becoming the Championship club's fourth manager in less than a year after Stale Solbakken was sacked following their 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Luton.

“Paulo Sousa, by the numbers:
- Five coaching jobs in five years so far
- Red Bulls would make six coaching jobs in six years
- Fired from QPR in less than five months
- Fired from Leicester City in less than three months
- Left Swansea City by "mutual consent" just after one year
- Broke contracts at Swansea City and Videoton just over a year into three-year contracts
- Did not meet expectations set for him at Swansea
- Could not repeat as league champion at Videoton, despite a positive record
- Win percentages (26.9% QPR, 36.7% Swansea, 33.3% Leicester, 58% Videoton)
- Zero MLS experience
Quotes about, or from, Sousa:
- Former Swansea Captain Garry Monk, "Looking back now, I'm glad we didn't get into the play-offs with Paulo, as he did not deserve to be the one to take us to the Premiership."
- More Regarding Training Methods of Sousa, "It was frustrating in terms of training going from working intensely hard (under Martinez) every single day to, practically, not even getting a sweat on."
- Swansea legend, Lee Trundle, revealed this about Sousa, "He'd (Sousa) done brilliantly to begin with, but when things started to slide, he didn't change anything. We'd be too reluctant to go for it in games and it cost us….."
- A Review of 'The Four Year Plan' by Matthew Harrison about Sousa at QPR. "(Paulo) Sousa attempts to deliver a rousing, inspirational speech to his new footballing cohorts, but all look disinterested and only really acknowledge their new manager with a tepid round of applause as his speech continues."
- Sven Goran Eriksson, after taking over for Sousa, who was fired after three months "We could not sustain our energy for the full 90 minutes. Is there a fitness issue? Maybe we'll see, starting tomorrow."
- Paulo Sousa admits that he goes where he thinks the better opportunity is. The implication, and evidence has been, that once he gets a better offer, he'll leave. "When I make steps it is because I feel it is a better step than before."”
