Solid defence sees Treforus hang on for narrow victory
TREFORUS B gained a narrow victory over Apex A as a new West Glamorgan Netball Association Winter League season got under way.
Playing several reserves, Apex A got off to a good start when leading by two goals at quarter-time.

However, by half-time Treforus B had taken the lead 13-11, helped mainly by some excellent shooting by Grace Roberts and Mel Barry.
Despite some hard work by Apex A circle defence Laura Davies and Alex Rowlands, who is newly transferred from Panthers, Treforus B managed to increase their lead to three goals going into the final quarter.

Although the match went goal for goal, Treforus B held on with some strong defending from Beth Mason and Angharad Morris, finally winning 28-26.
Also in division one, Paragons, who sit at the top of the division, had an easy victory over Pontardawe A, despite the Swansea Valley side having the experience of Wendy Blethyn at goal attack.
Tawe A also enjoyed their first win, taking a comfortable victory over an Apex B team containing more reserves than nominated team players.

Paragons have started this season with a bang and, with the introduction of a third senior team, looks to have the next generation of stars on its hands.
After three consecutive division one summer titles, the first team are again showing they are the team to beat.
They are currently setting the pace in division one with three wins from three, racking up an incredible 155 goals in the process.
The second team are not far behind and are looking to consolidate a great summer campaign with a push for promotion from division two. With two wins from two, they are the only undefeated team in the division.
The third is giving some fringe players an opportunity to show there is competition. They have also won both their games this term.
The club's junior section has also been getting a taste of success in the under-17s tournament in Llanelli.
The club have more than 70 members ranging aged ten and upwards, but are still on the lookout for new players.
