Sir Anthony Hopkins is a Corrie fan
MAYBE it's because the rows of terrace houses remind him of his Port Talbot home, but whatever the reason, Sir Anthony Hopkins has admitted that he is a huge Coronation Street fan.
Although Silence of the Lambs star, for which he won an Oscar, lives in Los Angeles these days it seems that he still has a fondness for Britain, not least, the Manchester-based soap.
The 75-year-old is reported as saying: "Life isn't worth living if I miss an episode of Coronation Street."
And actress Beverley Callard, who is soon to return as Rovers barmaid Liz McDonald, said: "I was at a party in Manchester years ago and I got this tap on my shoulder. It was Anthony Hopkins. He said, 'I so love your character, you're so real'. My legs went to jelly."
She added: "I know he is a massive fan, so I'd love him to be in it for a while – he'd have to be involved with Liz somehow.
"Can you imagine that? It'd be fantastic!"
