VANDALS in Llanelli have embarked on a dangerous new craze of overturning cars — with a vulnerable pensioner among their latest victims.

Edna Lewis was shocked to find her car had been flipped onto its side last Saturday night.

The 83-year-old, of Granby Close, had been recovering from a bout of food poisoning when her neighbour alerted her.

She discovered her Nissan Micra lying on its side — and police say it is just one of several such incidents.

"I went into a state of shock," she said.

"I couldn't believe somebody did it — it was terrible. The police told me that I was not the only victim — there had been two other reports of it in the past week."

Police confirmed they were investigating the incident, and another similar attack on a silver Citroen Advantage parked in Princess Street, Llanelli, during the early hours of Monday morning.

A force spokeswoman said: "We are aware that there have been two other incidents of this nature in Llanelli over the past few months in the Morfa area and Old Road.

"This is obviously very dangerous to those who are involved in this practice — and someone could be seriously hurt if it went wrong.

"It's very distressing to the owners of these vehicles too — as the vehicles sustain damage which causes inconvenience and unnecessary cost."

Anyone with information should contact Llanelli police on 101.
