Shop workers in Swansea and Carmarthen escape the axe after buyer is found for Republic
SHOP workers in Swansea and Carmarthen are among 2,100 across the UK whose jobs have been saved after troubled clothing chain Republic was bought by Sports Direct.
Republic became the latest casualty of the high street when it went into administration on February 13.
Administrator Ernst & Young has now completed the sale of the chain to Sports Direct for an undisclosed sum.
The sale of the business includes the brand, 116 stores and the head office in Leeds, helping to safeguard over 2,100 jobs across the UK and securing a future for the Republic retail brand.
