A FARM shop and grill has won a top title at the Countryside Alliance awards.

Cwmcerrig Farm Shop and Grill, near Gorslas, was named best in Wales in the local food category.

Countryside Alliance director for Wales, Rachel Evans, said the shop "provides quality goods and an exceptional grill".

"The traditional lunches made on a daily basis are simply to die for, with customers queuing half way around the shop waiting patiently to savour the delights," she said.

"Offering consumers an alternative to the supermarket, this family-run enterprise has been committed to local food since opening in 2009."

Ms Evans praised the "unwavering commitment to quality, home-produced beef and lamb and careful sourcing of 80 per cent of other products from within the county, coupled with a top-of-the-range butchery and very own deli, which underpins this business".
