THESE shocking x-ray images reveal how a teenage boy cheated death when a five inch knife was plunged into his head.

The 16-year-old and two other young men were injured when they tried to stop a friend being robbed at a bus stop.

He was rushed to hospital with the kitchen knife still stuck in his forehead after the attack in Walworth, South London, last November.

Police said the boy had since recovered and, although he required regular hospital checks, it was believed he has started college.

A 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was convicted of attempted murder and grievous bodily harm at Inner London Crown Court last week.

Detective Constable Scott Albert said: "Anyone who carries a knife, risks a heavy jail sentence. The defendant has affected four lives, including his own.

"Anyone thinking of carrying a knife should be warned by this case. Don't be a statistic. Life is precious."

“Eventually software will be developed that allow advertisers to see how long a reader has spent on a web story - and then they will realise that local papers that use shock stories and images that have no relevance to their readership are not worth advertising in. Get a grip and stop putting this sort of stuff on the South Wales Evening Post website. SOUTH and WALES being the operative words since you are no longer an evening paper.”
