Severn Bridge tolls on increase
DRIVERS using the Severn bridges face an inflation- busting toll rise of 3.3 per cent, the Government has confirmed.
Cars travelling from England to Wales on the M4 and M48 crossings will be charged £6.20 from January 1 — up from £6 this year.
Transport minister Stephen Hammond said the cost for vans and minibuses travelling west would rise from £12.10 to £12.40 (2.5 per cent), and from £18.10 to £18.60 (2.8 per cent) for lorries and coaches.
He said: “The toll levels will be confirmed in an order made by the Secretary of State in December.”

The latest annual price hikes were revealed following a written Commons question from Labour MP Jessica Morden (Newport East).
Motorists pay only to enter Wales.
Driving into England is free, with no toll booths on the eastbound carriageways.

“by geoboy01.......I find it strange that despite their obvious failings that this government can be any more culpable for "sticking it to the Welsh" than the last lot. I have lived down here for 20 odd years and the toll has gone up every year, and for 13 of those years Liebour were in charge, so hardly fair to blame the ConDems”
