Screening test can help to save lives
MEN living in Swansea aged 65 are being encouraged to take up a free NHS screening test which could save their life.
The Wales Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Programme provides a quick, painless, one-off ultrasound scan to check for a condition that can be life-threatening, if left undetected.
Screening clinics are held across Swansea in Gower, Pontardawe, Pontarddulais and Swansea. An Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) can happen to anybody but is most common in men aged 65 and who smoke, have high blood pressure, high cholesterol or have a family history of AAA.
Head of Wales AAA screening Llywela Wilson, said: "Men aged 65 will be invited for AAA screening if they live in Wales and are registered with a GP practice."
