SOUTH Wales Scorpions' preparations for their Co-operative Championship play-off match at Rochdale Hornets on Sunday (3pm) have been hit by injuries and suspensions.

The influential Loz Wildbore and Gil Dudson are both suspended for this match, while Lloyd White, Geraint Davies, Joe Burke, Neil Dallimore and Harri Greville all injured.

"They are the cards that we have been dealt," said coach Anthony Seibold, "We will deal with whatever is thrown our way as we have done all year with regards to player availability.

"It is a shame that we find ourselves in this position and that we don't have more competition for spots.

"But we can only concentrate on who we have available and assist them as best as possible."

The Scorpions qualified for the play-offs after finishing sixth, and Seibold knows he is going into the game against fifth-placed Rochdale as severe underdogs.

"We can't wait to get into a big end-of-season game in our first year as a professional club but we are literally down to our last 19 players," he said.

"We will prepare and give ourselves the most appropriate travel and training schedule going into Sunday's game and we need all the support we can muster as we go back to a stadium where just a few weeks ago we were well beaten.

"We are underdogs but we know that all the pressure is on the opposition with home-ground advantage and a stated ambition to go deep into the play-offs.

"It will be interesting to see how they handle that pressure at home when they are such favourites."
