SOUTH Wales Scorpions timekeeper Gareth Laugharne picked up a £500 jackpot when he became the first Scorpions fan to have won the club lottery just two months after its revamp.

Scorpions chairman Phil Davies said: "It's fantastic news to see Gareth taking first prize in the lottery after just two months of entering.

"Gareth is a fantastic supporter of the club and gives us a lot of his time for free to help us out at matches and other events. I'm pleased that his luck has arrived in this way.

"Supporting our lottery raises much-needed income for the upkeep of our ground.

"The surface here at The Gnoll is among the best in Wales and we host rugby here 12 months of the year.

"We have a Wales match in the Rugby League World Cup at The Gnoll in 2013 and continued support in our lottery will go a long way to making the surface look at its best as we are broadcast around the world.

Mr Laugharne has said that he will put £200 back into the Scorpions.
