Girl accused of murdering boyfriend on A-level results day runs sobbing from dock
A GIRL accused of murdering her boyfriend ran from a court in tears today as her harrowing 999 call was played to jurors.
Kat McGrath, aged 19, ran from the dock sobbing uncontrollably as the emergency call was played to a hushed courtroom.
McGrath is accused of stabbing boyfriend Alyn Thomas, aged 22, from Cymmer, though the heart with a steak-knife on the night she celebrated getting her A-level results.
An emotional and hysterical McGrath told the emergency operator: "There's a guy and he's bleeding to death. Please come."
The operator asked McGrath if she saw what happened and the schoolgirl replied: "Yeah, it was me. I did it in self-defence.
"He's my boyfriend and he came and attacked me and I didn't know what to do."
She added: "He had been drinking lots of alcohol and he was really aggressive."
The emergency operator gave McGrath first aid instructions while the ambulance made its way to her home in Brackla, Bridgend.
McGrath's mum, a nurse, battled to save Alyn before paramedics arrived.
The 999 call was still being played at Cardiff Crown Court when McGrath returned to the dock clutching a white tissue and supported by her solicitor.
Leave your Lasting Tribute to Alyn Thomas
McGrath told police that Mr Thomas bit her on the thumb during the drunken row.
The court heard how a doctor examined McGrath following her arrest on suspicion of murder and found a cut and bitemarks to her thumb.
Giving evidence, Dr Sally Wood, said the bite was inflicted with "considerable force."
McGrath denies murder and the trial continues.
